sealing grout

I'm new here and hopefully someone here can answer my question regarding tile grout sealer. We recently re-tiled our master bath. We mixed sealer into the grout based upon recommendations from the tile seller. Since the sealer was added to the grout mixture is it advisable to ALSO seal the cured grout?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Re: sealing grout

Tile sealants don't last very long, you have to re seal as needed, depending on how wet the tiles get.

I usually use the best sealant I can find. Read the label, see what the manufacturer recommends.

Re: sealing grout

I understand about the porosity of grout etc.; my question is about the sealer being mixed into the grout. This is newly tiled newly grouted it hasn't had water on it. Does the newly installed grout with sealer in it need to be sealed with the paint on sealer in addition to what was added to the unsanded grout dry mix?

Re: sealing grout

I see what you're asking.

I don't have experience with that. I think that sealing over what you got can't hurt.

Maybe you can ask the same question at johnbridgetileforum.com. If you get a response, please share with us.
