im in the process of sanding our floorboards, and as im going on im noticing what looks like signs of woodworm, but its only on a few floorboards, not everywhere. is there any way of knowing if the woodworm is still there or if its old and long gone? and what should i do to treat it, if needs be? all opinions greatly appreciaited, thanks!!

Howdy sounds like a a long dead bug. You could fill the hole or replace the boards.

Watch the suspected spots for activity. If you've got access to the sub area, check there too. If they're active, you'll see sawdust pile up outside the holes. It wouldn't hurt to put a rug or something to block the light because wood boring critters tend to not like the light, making the hole entrance more inviting for activity. If you have critters I'm not sure if there is a non-chemical, non-destructive means to eradicate them. There may be an infra-red (heat ) method that will kill them.
