Outfitting a room almost entirely with recycled or reused finds can prove a challenge. Too much salvage, and your space starts to look like a junkyard—which is why interior designer Sally Bailey lets simplicity reign in her home studio, shown here. Whitewashed walls offer a clean backdrop for her many rescued treasures, including a handmade machinist's stool and a desktop crafted from boards once used as a potter's drying rack. "There's a sense of calm that comes from the room's amazing light and abundance of natural finishes," says Bailey. But the room also boasts plenty of personality, thanks to bright blue vases and vintage globes, plus some graphic industrial accessories, including a caged desk lamp.
