The Usefulness of C-Clamps
Tom Silva knows what to do with all those old C-clamps
I see lots of old C-clamps at flea markets and yard sales. How could I use them when working around my house?

C-clamps are great because once they’re nice and tight, they don’t come loose. Clamp two to a framing square, and they can be handy stops for marking out stair stringers. Attach a small clamp to the base of a circular saw, and it can guide the saw when making rip cuts. A big clamp makes a good handle for carrying plywood up a ladder. Just be sure to protect the wood before snugging down the jaws; they will crush a divot into a surface almost before you know it.
